What are some reasons people choose to homeschool?
Here are a few that are most common here at REACH:

* The parent’s opportunity to direct the education of their children
* The parent’s desire for primary influence in the lives of their children

What are the assessment options?
Homeschoolers are evaluated using one of two options.

1. Standardized Testing
2. Portfolio Assessment

Is there someone I may address further questions to regarding homeschooling?
You may address any questions concerning homeschooling to REACH Email and a REACH member will get back to you. Every attempt will be made to respond in a timely fashion, but we are volunteers and homeschoolers so please be patient with us.

Who can homeschool?
Anyone with a high school diploma or equivalent may homeschool children.

What do you have to do to begin?
File a notice of intent to homeschool with the Raleigh County Board of Education two weeks before you begin with the following:

1. Child’s age
2. Your current address
3. Name of child
4. Intended curriculum
5. Subjects to be covered
